Cabbie #4
Published by Wing August 11th, 2006 in Everything, CabbiesIn contrast to the last one, this gentleman had a sunny disposition. He was just about to finish his shift and didn’t live too far either. He came from Vietnam to Australia in 1988, because he didn’t like the communist rule. Like me, he loves it here. Good weather, good lifestyle, and excellent seafood. He especially likes the beef here, ‘cos he likes his beef noodle. Yep, he’s a foodie. He said if I like food and like to travel, Vietnam is tops. Off season airfare isn’t that expensive, and once I’m there, everything is ridiculously cheap. A beef noodle would cost me anything from $0.5 to $1.80, which sounded rather good to me.
I’ve never been to Vietnam. May be one day.

i’m going this year - just gritted teeth, looked away from wallet, put the idea of a digital slr on hold, and brought a ticket
vietnam is still my all time favourite holiday spot. i stayed only 1 month and was so sad to be leaving and was so close to just biting the bullett and calling my family and then partner and saying sorry i’m going to stay a while longer…it’s also the place where i met my now husband. and the food - i seriously don’t remember the food being that great, but times have definitely changed, now they’ve got hotels and resorts and the internet - very different to when i was there in ‘95. the people are what makes the place so special, the simple way of life, the reality of the place…you MUST go!
