El Accidente
Published by Wing August 1st, 2006 in EverythingI had an accident this morning on my ride to work. A car pulled out from behind a parked car, which was fine. Off it went along with the traffic, and then back it ducked into a parking spot, without indication or checking his blind spot. I braked hard, the bike flipped, I landed rather unflatteringly on the road, my bike landed on a parked cab. The cab driver got out, checked the damage, which was a couple of dents. The driver got out to check my damage, which was a banged and scraped knee. He apologised. The cab driver didn’t seem keen to claim damage from me. I didn’t want to claim damage from the driver. I rode off, albeit slowly, with one rather ouchie knee, but in one piece.
Note to self: Ride again tomorrow.

that’s pretty scary really. cycling can be dangerous and drivers here don’t have much consideration for them.
take care on the roads wing - hope your knee is feeling better already!
ouch
I rode to work today. Took it extra easy and extra careful. The knee is not 100%, but good enough to ride. Tomorrow has late shower predicted, so I might catch a train and give the knee a break. I’ll see.
Scary stuff, did you get the driver’s details?
Glad you cycled the following day, and hope you’re ok now.
Nope, I didn’t get his details. The driver was genuinely apologetic, I wasn’t badly hurt, and my bike clothes weren’t damaged. So I was more interested in moving on.
