Cabbie #2
Published by Wing July 14th, 2006 in Everything, CabbiesAnother drunken Photobloggers meet, another cabbie to talk to on my ride home. He’s Russian. With a fairly thick accent, though you can tell he’s lived here for many years. Came here when he was 16. Has two boys. 16 and 9. The 9 year old is very motivated and competitive, in a good way. Like to learn everything and be good at it. He plays good soccer, and very good at playing the piano as well. The 16 year old son is a little more quiet, whom he’s more worried about. I said to him that I reckon he’ll be fine. He’s just one of the more introspective kids, like myself. He’s just comfortable with his current state. In fact, that son is just like himself, who said he doesn’t like to do what he doesn’t enjoy doing. He’d be quite content and patient in searching for the thing he loves to do. The taxi driver said he hopes so. He also said he likes to take photographs of his kids. Even showed me a photograph he took of them in front of the opera house, just the day before. It was his wallpaper on his mobile phone. They were good boys, I can tell. No need to worry about them. His wife also like to take photographs. He was telling me of a photograph she took of the younger boy where she told him not to make faces, as he liked to do. So with his head on his hands, with his elbows resting on a table, she took a black and white photograph of that moment. He still has that photograph framed up in their home. Sounds like a good photograph to me. The cabbie sounds like a real decent person as well. A loving father, who truly loves his family, and his life. A pleasure to have chatted with him.
