Dramatic, but not melodramatic. A dash of grey humour, but not silly. It's a very well balanced and poignant story driven by well sketched characters. Even the score was just right. Not too sweepy and showy, but has just the right measure of presence to accompany your emotions instead of mustering it around like cattle. Totally my kind of film. 4 stars.
