In a Tailoring Exam Without a Calculator
Published by Wing January 24th, 2006 in Everything, DreamsHad another recurring dream where I was unprepared for an exam. This time it’s a tailoring exam. I was doing a course on making clothes, which is strange enough as it is. What’s unusual this time is that I had studied for the exam. The only thing I had forgotten was a calculator. I went around asking people if I could borrow their calculators. I approached a couple of people who just came out of their exams, and I saw that they had calculators with them. So I asked one of them if I could borrow his calculator. He said no, and then he said OK, for $5. I begrudgingly took out my wallet and gave him $5. He then proceeded to walk away, laughing, muttering something about “Did you really think I was going to lend you my calculator? Muahahaha!” I was pretty pissed off. So I chased him and snatched the $5 off his hands. By then the exam was starting, so I had to go in. I sat for the exam without a calculator, feeling somewhat under pressure. I started to work through the first question, which was something stupid like, “If a person is this tall and this wide, how big should his trousers be?” when I realised that I knew how to work it out by hand. I might be a bit slow, but I might be able to answer enough questions in time to pass. So I wasn’t in such panic anymore. I started scribbling some equations in the working area of the paper, that’s when I woke up.
