Mouthful of Flies

Last night I dreamt that I was walking around the house which I shared with a few people.  I don’t know them in real life, and in the dream I never really saw their faces, but they were my housemates.  I was walking around the house because it was the intermission of a movie I was supposed to watch and write a review about.  The movie didn’t get my interest, and I actually fell asleep through most of it.  Anyway, during the intermission I had a walk around the house to wake up and refresh myself.  I got to a screen door which leads outside, and saw a plant beside it.  I picked up a stick and hit the plant.  As soon as I did that I had an intense buzzing around my ears.  I didn’t see anything, but all I could hear was clouds of flies buzzing around my ears, as if they were trying get inside my head.  So I did the old shaking of head and flailing of arms to get them away, even though I still can’t see them.  And then, it all stopped.  So I walked around the corner to another room, and saw a piece of styrofoam.  For some reason I picked it up and took a bite out of one corner of it and began to chew.  The feeling of little bits of styrofoam in my mouth was disgusting.  I looked up and I saw a whole lot of flies sitting on the wall.  They were covering a third of the wall, in a band.  Like the milky way, except of flies instead of stars.  I walked very carefully as I didn’t want to disturb them.  The last thing I need is more buzzing around my ears.  The taste of the foam in my mouth was getting to me, so I started spitting out the bits of foam.  When I did that, flies flew out of my mouth, endlessly.  I could not get rid of them all, no matter how hard I spit.  They just kept streaming out.  And that’s when I woke up.

Wow, that’s a very evocative telling. I often have dreams (when things are tenuous or frightening) where my teeth are coming out in bits and pieces, no matter how much I cough or spit them out, I cannot rid myself of them, they continue to crumble and fill my mouth.

Yeah I’ve had those dreams too. About a handful of times. It feels disturbing when that happens, like I’m prematurely aging. In fact I’ve also had dream where my hair would fall out in clumps, and it just keep coming off, more and more clumps, endlessly. I wonder what this all means?
